6J40 Constantan alloy precision electrical alloys, with their extremely low temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) and excellent processing properties, are a core material in the manufacture of precision electronic components, shunts, and thermocouple compensating wires. The thermoelectric potential of 6J40 against copper is 45 μV/°C, which is considered a challenge in precision resistance applications because temperature differences at the connection points can generate parasitic voltages. However, this characteristic makes 6J40 an ideal negative electrode material for manufacturing J-type thermocouples and compensating wires. 6J40 has a very wide operating temperature range (5°C to 500°C). Its oxidation resistance is superior to that of manganin, maintaining relatively stable electrical properties in air at temperatures up to 500°C.
