6J12 high-accuracy manganin alloy contains only a small amount of nickel, which is primarily used to improve the alloy's corrosion resistance and, in conjunction with manganese, fine-tune the temperature coefficient of resistance, minimizing its fluctuations near room temperature. As a transfer standard for metrology departments, 6J12 is manufactured into sealed, oil-immersed resistors, utilizing its extremely low TCR and aging stability as a resistance reference. In power electronics measurements, 6J12 is used to manufacture shunts for measuring large currents. Due to its extremely low thermoelectric potential against copper, it effectively eliminates interference from terminal temperature differences caused by heating from large currents. In pressure sensors and weighing systems requiring long-term accuracy, the low drift characteristics of 6J12 ensure that the sensors do not require frequent calibration across different seasons and room temperatures.
